Brian Harper (born July 19, 1985 ) is an American basketball player . After studying in his home country, Harper started a professional career in Norway in 2007 . After working in South Korea , the NBA Development League (D-League) and three years with the Toyama Grouses in the Japanese bj league , Harper started playing in the German basketball league from 2012 .

Career

After graduating from school in Stone Mountain , a suburb of Atlanta , Harper went to study at the African American-influenced Paine College in Augusta in his home state, where he played for the college team Lions in Division II of the NCAA from 2003 to 2007 . Although the training at a University of Division II does not offer particularly favorable conditions for a career as a professional athlete, Harper then started a career as a professional and initially played in the Norwegian league for Gimle BBK from Bergen . The climber in the top division BLNO reached with Harper as the team's top scorer with a good 25 points per game in seventh and third from bottom place in the table. In the 2008/09 season Harper tried in the Korean Basketball League for KCC Egis, but his contract was terminated after nine appearances. From February 2009, Harper had individual missions in the D-League for the Sioux Falls Skyforce and the Reno Bighorns in his home country.

For the 2009/10 season, Harper went back to East Asia, where he played in the Japanese bj league for the Grouses from Toyama . With this team he only achieved lower placements in the Eastern Conference of the bj league before, together with Devin Searcy, among others, achieved a midfield placement in the regular season in the 2011/12 season with an almost even season balance. Nevertheless, they were eliminated in the play-offs for the title again in the first round. For the basketball Bundesliga 2012/13 Harper was signed by the German first division club TBB Trier, where he acted as one of the more experienced players in the young team of coach Henrik Rödl . The team achieved a good twelfth place in the table with 15 wins this season in 34 games without being able to qualify for the play-offs. Then he got a contract for the basketball Bundesliga 2013/14 with the league competitor Eisbären from Bremerhaven , whose new head coach Calvin Oldham had already been assistant coach at Harper's former club KCC Egis and von Rödl at Alba Berlin . With the polar bears Harper also played together again with Devin Searcy. After a weak start to the season, the Eisbären managed to stay in the league with twelve victories of the season in twelfth place in the table. As part of the BBL All-Star Games , Harper took part in the “ dunking competition” for the second time in a row in 2014 . In 33 Bundesliga games for Bremerhaven, he scored an average of 5.9 points and 4.0 rebounds per game.

In the 2014/15 season he was a leading player at the Cypriot first division club AEK Larnaca, won the championship title with the team and was voted the best foreign player in the league by the Internet portal Eurobasket.com . This was followed by positions at Tartu Ulikool / Rock in Estonia , the Japanese club Tokyo Hachioji Trains, Hapoel Ramat Gan in Israel and Apoel Nicosia (Cyprus).
