Brigach is a district of St. Georgen in the Black Forest in the Schwarzwald-Baar district in Baden-Württemberg .

history

Brigach was first mentioned in a document in 1337 on the occasion of the exchange of serfs from the Reichenau and St. Georgen monasteries. Brigach was named after the tributary of the Danube and the Brigach spring . However, a number of names such as changed Brigana , Brigil , Brigene or Briggen . Brigach's story was closely related to the history of the Sankt Georgen monastery . Farms were established in Brigach very early on and they had to give part of their harvest and chickens to the monastery. In addition, the farm owners had to do labor and pay half-interest . From 1648 to 1810 Brigach belonged to the St. Georgen monastery and was therefore part of Württemberg. Then Brigach belonged to Hornberg and thus became Baden. From 1857 Brigach was subordinate to the Triberg office and from 1864 to the Villingen district office. On January 1, 1972 Brigach was incorporated into the city of St. Georgen in the Black Forest.
