Location of Stockburg in Baden-Württemberg

Stockburg is a district of St. Georgen in the Black Forest in the Schwarzwald-Baar district in Baden-Württemberg .

coat of arms

Description : "In silver on a green mountain, a red castle ruin."

geography

Stockburg is located on the eastern slope of the central Black Forest, mainly to the right of the Brigach tributary to the Danube and north of the Röhlinbach stream that flows into it .

Because there were many springs in the Stockburg area, farms settled here. Because of the relatively harsh climate, however, only weather-resistant plant varieties can be grown. That is why most of the farms ran and operate cattle and dairy farming .

history

Stockburg was first mentioned in a document in the founding document of the St. Georgen monastery in 1086. It is now assumed that a Burkard from Stokka or Stocka mentioned in 1270 and 1296 is more likely to be located in Stockburg than in Stockach . Between 1500 and 1588 local nobility can be traced with the Stähling von Stockburg, including Georg Stählin, who was Obervogt in the Baar in 1518. They bequeathed the place to the monastery, which owned it in the form of the Württemberg monastery office until 1810. On November 2, 1810, the place came to the Grand Duchy of Baden by means of a state treaty , where it was incorporated into the Office of Hornberg. In 1820 the place became part of the Villingen district office, to which it had already temporarily belonged in 1813.

On April 1, 1974 Stockburg was incorporated into the town of St. Georgen in the Black Forest. It had become part of the Schwarzwald-Baar district as part of the district reform of 1973 .
