Demographics
As of the 2000 census, there are 12,594 people, 5,473 households, and 3,338 families in the city. The population density is 756.2 inhabitants per km². 83.15% of the population is White, 3.94% African American , 0.18% Native American , 5.72% Asian , 0.05% Pacific Islander , 4.67% from other races, and 2.29% mixed race . 9.41% are Latinos of any race.
Of the 5,473 households, 24.0% have children under the age of 18. 44.9% of them are married couples living together, 11.7% are single mothers, 39.0% are not families, 30.7% are single households and 9.9% are people over 65. The average household size is 2 .30, the average family size 2.89.

history
Brigantine Beach was first mentioned in the logbook of Henry Hudson's ship Half Moon in 1608 . However, the Dutch were the first Europeans to look for a sea route through the New World to the Orient on the coast of Jersey. The name Brigantine comes from a type of ship that was used at the time.
