Bruno Coquatrix

Bruno André Coquatrix (born August 4, 1910 in Ronchin ; † April 1, 1979 in Paris ), was a French concert organizer, in particular he was general director of the Paris Olympia from 1954 until his death in 1979 .

Bruno Coquatrix initially attracted attention as a lyricist and composer. He wrote over 300 chansons , including dont Mon ange (1940), Clopin-clopant (with Pierre Dudan, 1947) and Cheveux dans le vent (with Jacques Chabannes, 1949), as well as several operettas .

He was also the impresario of chanson singers such as Jacques Pills and Lucienne Boyer . After managing the Bobino , in 1954 he took over the management of the Olympia, the largest music hall in Europe. He engaged all the celebrities of the chanson of the time; among them Georges Brassens , Gilbert Bécaud , Johnny Hallyday , Violetta Villas , Dalida , Édith Piaf , Annie Cordy and Yves Montand . He is also one of the founders of the Disques Versailles record label .

On January 6, 1947, he married Paulette Possicelsky (1916-2018), their daughter is Patricia Coquatrix, who inherited Olympia after his death. His nephew Jean-Michel Boris then ran the Olympia from 1979 to 2001.

Bruno Coquatrix was also Mayor of Cabourg from 1971 until his death . He was buried in the Père Lachaise cemetery.
