Club career

ES Troyes AC

Mbeumo is of Cameroonian descent and moved to the youth academy of ES Troyes AC at the age of 14 and was promoted to the reserve team for the 2016/17 season. In the fifth French division he scored five goals in 12 appearances in his first season. After drawing attention to himself with good performances in the second team in the 2017/18 season, he made his debut for the first team in Ligue 1 in February 2018 . In the 1-0 home win against FC Metz on February 17 (26th matchday) he was substituted on for Bryan Pelé in the closing stages of the game . By the end of the 2017/18 season , he was used in three more games, but had to accept relegation to the second-rate Ligue 2 . At that time he was also used in the U-19 team, with whom he won the renowned Coupe Gambardella in May 2018 . He himself scored both goals for ESTAC in the 2-1 win over FC Tours at the Stade de France .

On August 14, 2018, he started for Troyes for the first time in a 2-1 away win in the league cup game against US Quevilly-Rouen Métropole . Just two weeks later he was able to score his first competitive goal in a 3-1 win against Clermont Foot in this very competition. In the league he benefited from the weak start to the season of his team, which slipped into the relegation ranks. After his strong performances, coach Rui Almeida gave him the trophy he trusted there and put him in the starting line-up from the end of August. On September 21, he made his first league goal for Troyes in a 1-1 draw against AC Le Havre . The next three games could score once in each game. As an integral part of Almeida's selection, he then had a strong run with ESTAC . In the second half of the 2018/19 season he only suffered one defeat with his club and advanced to 3rd place in the table, which enabled the team to participate in the promotion playoffs. With ten goals and three assists, he made a significant contribution. There they failed in the semi-finals with 1: 2 at RC Lens .

The season 2019/20 started Mbeumo with a win in 2: 0 away win against Chamois Niort . By his departure in early August, he had played 45 competitive games for Troyes, in which he was able to collect 12 goals and four assists.

On August 31 (6th matchday) he met the Bees jersey for the first time in a 3-0 home win against Derby County and also assisted another goal. The winger finally got into goal mood from the end of November 2019, starting with a goal in a 7-0 home win against promoted Luton Town . From this game on, he hit six goals in the next seven games and was instrumental in helping Brentford establish himself in the play-off ranks.
