Bruno Leuschner (born October 21, 1957 in Santiago de Chile ) is a German conductor , composer and arranger living in Switzerland .

biography

Leuschner studied conducting and piano at the Hamburg University of Music with Klauspeter Seibel and Christoph von Dohnányi . From 1981 to 1983 he directed the Harvestehuder Sinfonieorchester Hamburg . Since 1983 he has worked at opera houses in Germany and Switzerland as a conductor and répétiteur. He conducted, among others, Die Zauberflöte , Die Entführung aus dem Serail , Die Fledermaus , Il trovatore and most recently at the Stadttheater Bern the Freischütz , Don Carlos , Rigoletto , Carmen , Salome , Lulu and Le Grand Macabre .

In the musical field he conducted the first year of the Hamburg production Das Phantom der Oper with Peter Hofmann in the leading role, as well as Cats , Evita , My Fair Lady , "Cabaret", Oliver! and Sweeney Todd . In 2004 he directed the production Kiss me Kate in the Culture and Congress Center Lucerne , was arranger and conductor of the first performance of Jonas & Madelaine - (2005/06) also in the KKL Lucerne and composed the musical "Glamor Sisters", which was released in 2006 for the opening of the " Le Théâtre ”premiered in Kriens.

Further compositions: 2001 song cycle based on poems by Rose Ausländer (“You are the voice”) and 2005 “Sonata crítica” based on poems by Pablo Neruda .

Since 2004 he has been musical director of the “New Theater am Bahnhof” Dornach with annual music theater productions: Die Fledermaus , Die Entführung aus dem Serail , La serva padrona , Il segreto di Susanna , Orlando paladino , Orfeo ed Euridice , Don Pasquale . In 2008 he composed the music revue TraumBall 424, a music theater by Georg Darvas on the occasion of the 2008 European Football Championship about the life of the legendary football coach Béla Guttmann . Performances in the New Theater at Dornach train station and in the Odeon Theater in Vienna.

Since 2011 he has been the musical director of the Möriken-Wildegg operetta stage with the productions Der Bettelstudent (2011), The Duchess of Chicago (2013), Banditenstreich (2015) and Countess Mariza (2017). Since 2012 he has been the conductor of the Langenthal garden opera with the initial production L'elisir d'amore (Gaëtano Donizetti) and was the conductor of the summer opera Selzach 2012: Hoffmanns Erzählungen (Jacques Offenbach). Since 2013 he has been conductor of the Ostermundigen Orchestra with three symphonic programs per season.
