Buck-O-Nine is a ska-punk band that was formed in 1991 in San Diego ( California , USA ).

Band history

The musicians who founded the band Buck-O-Nine in 1991 had very different musical backgrounds, such as punk , metal , reggae and ska . This also had an effect on the music of the group, which did not want to dedicate itself to grunge , which was prevalent at the time , but to its own style of ska. Role models for their music were The Mighty Mighty Bosstones , Operation Ivy and the Voodoo Glow Skulls .

After a first demo tape in 1992 and the debut album "Songs in the Key of Bree" (1994), she signed the " Immune Records " label , with which she signed a two-year contract. After this time they switched to " Taang! Records ", the label with which the "Mighty Mighty Bosstones" also had a contract.

The album "Barfly" (1995) was followed by a period of touring , which took the band to Japan . The band was played more often on the radio and thus got a contract with a larger label: " TVT Records ". In 1997 they released their third album "28 Teeth" there.

The period up to 1999 was marked by some changes in the line-up. In addition, " TVT Records " dropped the band after the fourth album "Libido" (1999). The band released their next album "Hellos and Goodbyes" (also 1999) on the label of their singer, Jon Pebsworth.

Since the sixth album "On A Mission" from 2001, the band has concentrated on live performances around the globe, but mainly in the USA.

In early 2007 the band began recording a new album that was released that summer under the title "Sustain".
