Buck Taylor (* 13. May 1938 as Walter Clarence Taylor, III in Hollywood , California ) is an American actor .

Life

Taylor was born the son of actor Dub Taylor . He studied acting at the University of Southern California Los Angeles , where he was also active as an athlete and took part in the qualifying round for the Olympic Games . After his military service in the United States Navy , he began his acting career in 1962. Like his father, he preferred to play in the western genre and had guest roles in Bonanza and The People of the Shiloh Ranch . In 1967 he was cast for the role of gunsmith Newly O'Brien in the series Smoking Coltsoccupied, which he played until 1975. In the following years he also appeared mainly in westerns, including in Triumph of the Man They Called Horse , Gettysburg and Tombstone and the Will Smith - blockbuster Wild Wild West . For his services to the western genre, he was awarded the Spirit of Texas , the Cowboy Spirit , the Spirit of the West and the Golden Boot Award and was inducted into the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame .

Taylor was married to actress Judy Nugent from 1961 to 1983 , with whom he had three children. His son Adam, who was married to actress Anne Lockhart , died in a traffic accident in 1994. Taylor has also been a painter since 1993, selling his pictures (mainly cowboy and western motifs) through galleries and his website.
