Budakalász ( German Kalasch ) is a Hungarian city in Pest County . It is located on the northern outskirts of the Hungarian capital Budapest and belongs to the small area Szentendre .
history
Budakalász was first mentioned in a document in 1135.
An important burial ground of Baden culture was discovered in the Luppa csárda district . The square table vessels made of clay, discovered in grave 177 and interpreted as a model of a car , now adorns the city's coat of arms. Roman remains were also found in the city. Devastated during the Turkish wars , the former village was repopulated by Danube Swabians from 1728 . The Hungarian Germans made up the majority of the population in the village until they were expelled after World War II. Today a Hungarian-German museum of local history reminds of this time.
