Buddy Giovinazzo (born May 5, 1957 on Staten Island , New York City , USA ) is an American writer , filmmaker and director .

Life

Buddy Giovinazzo was born in Staten Island, New York, where he also spent his childhood. His father is a musician, he and his brother Rick Giovinazzo , who writes the film music for many of his films, grew up musically accordingly. As a schoolboy he began making Super8 films and music videos. After Combat Shock , which seems like a mixture of Eraserhead and Apocalypse Now , he shot Unter Brüdern (No Way Home) , for which he found a sponsor thanks to well-known actors like James Russo , Deborah Unger and especially Tim Roth . Despite this circumstance and the narrative and technical quality of this author's film, it was rarely shown in cinemas and was advertised so negligently by its distributors in Germany that it went under. Since Buddy Giovinazzo was hardly entrusted with directing work in the USA, he moved to Berlin, where he published his first novel in German by Erich Maas and was entrusted with the first directing work relatively quickly. Carmine Giovinazzo , who became known to a wider audience as an actor in CSI: NY , is his cousin. He can be seen in a supporting role as a junkie in Life Is Hot in Cracktown .
