Later in 1991, Bagwell was retired from World Championship Wrestling. Here he often competed in teams, including with Tom Zenk, 2 Cold Scorpio, The Patriot, and Scotty Riggs . During this time he has already won the WCW World Tag Team title four times. In November 1996, Bagwell joined the New World Order (nWo). According to the storyline, he started a feud against Lex Luger , which ended in a match at Starrcade in 1997, which Bagwell won.
On April 22, 1998, Bagwell suffered a serious back injury as a result of an unsuccessful action by Rick Steiner , which forced him to take a break of several months. After his return in July, according to the storyline , he was allowed to feud against Steiner in order to take revenge on him.

In 2000 there was a feud between Bagwell and Lex Luger, this ended with a defeat for Bagwell at Slamboree 2000. Bagwell later joined Douglas again for the tag team title, but they were no longer awarded. So the team was dissolved and both feuded against each other. In early 2001 Bagwell joined Ric Flair's "Magnificent Seven" stable . In March 2001, WCW was taken over by WWE and Bagwell was employed there from then on. Here Bagwell was allowed to fight for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship against Booker T , but the match ended without a result after Steve Austin and Kurt Angle intervened. He was released from the WWE on July 9th.
From this point on, Bagwell was initially active for the X Wrestling Federation and later for World Wrestling All-Stars . Bagwell also had several appearances with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling in 2002 and 2003. In 2006 he was regularly seen on TNA.
