The Buhui Cave (also Buhui Grotto , Romanian Peştera Buhui or Grota Buhui ) is a protected area in nature and landscape protection of IUCN Category IV . It is located in the Anina Mountains , on the area of ​​the city of Anina , in the Caraș-Severin County , Romania .

The Buhui Cave is located three kilometers from the city of Anina and around four kilometers from the Buhui Lake .

The Buhui Cave was designated a nature reserve in 2000 as part of the Semenic-Cheile Carașului National Park . With a length of 3217 meters, it is the longest cave in the Banat Mountains . The cave was first scientifically recorded between 1875 and 1884 by the Austrian geologist and paleontologist Rudolf Hoernes .

The Buhui Cave has three entrances, the Certej entrance, the sinkhole entrance and the Buhui Grotto. The main gallery follows the underground course of the Buhui stream , the course of which has stilling pools and waterfalls . The last 400 meters of the gallery can only be negotiated by swimming or in a rubber dinghy.

The fossil side galleries include the Bear Hall , the Column Hall and the Cathedral Hall , which, like the main gallery, have numerous stalactite formations.
