history

Municipal business school

On December 14, 1971, the school committee of the city of Eisenerz decided unanimously to recommend the establishment of a 3-year commercial school for boys and girls to the local council. The boarding school " Schloss Leopoldstein ", which also offers foreign students the opportunity to attend the school in Eisenerz, was an additional plus point and so the Eisenerz municipal council passed the unanimous decision on March 22, 1972 to open a three-year business school. The first school year began on September 12, 1972. The founder and director of the school until July 2000 was Walter Kohlmaier, who, as mayor of Eisenerz, promoted the establishment and further development of the commercial schools in Eisenerz.

From the 1983/84 school year, commercial school graduates were able to take the Matura and thus acquire the higher education entrance qualification .

With the beginning of the school year 1990/91 the federal government took over the school. After a room and functional program for an old and an additional building at the Bundesoberstufenrealgymnasium and the Bundeshandelsakademie Eisenerz was created at the beginning of 1984 by initially assuming a class number of 18, a number of students of approx. 500 and a number of teachers of 45 for a "Münichthal school center" , in this context, the request for planning the building project was sent to the responsible Federal Ministry for Buildings and Technology . 105 million schillings (approx. 8 million euros) were budgeted for the realization of the new building as part of the so-called " Upper Styria Initiative" and completion could be expected from 1991 onwards. In the school year 1990/91, the unique school model started, which enables training as a skilled worker in addition to the Matura . The apprenticeship training takes place in the afternoon in the youth and adult education center. In 1992 the new school building was occupied.

Teachers, pupils and parents decided in 1992/93 to focus on tourism and IT . From 1995/1996 pupils were able to graduate with the recognized diploma "MS Office Manager". This training took place in cooperation with the bfi-Leoben and included the MS Office programs and image processing at the advanced level and was one of the first in Styria Cooperation with extracurricular educational institutions. The subsequent NET and WEB training replaced this qualification .

The Federal Trade Academy

The first year of a five-year commercial academy opened in the 1998/99 school year . The school career to the Matura (3 years business school and 3 years advanced course) has been shortened to 5 years. In the school year 2000/2001 Edda Gröger headed the school. Then Wilfried Fürbaß took over the school. One of his first initiatives in connection with the qualification of pupils was the introduction of net and web training - initially as an optional subject, then as a subject IT-HAK (information technology).

The Handelsakademie (HAK) is a vocational college (BHS) in Austria , with a focus on commercial and business administration. Commercial academies are one of the Austrian schools that graduate after five years with the maturity and diploma examinations . The successfully passed maturity and diploma examination of the commercial academy entitles to study at: colleges , academies, technical colleges, colleges and universities. In addition, the degree opens up access to the following fields of activity:

  • Employees or entrepreneurs in areas of activity in various branches of the economy and administration at the middle and higher commercial and administrative level.
  • Independent exercise of regulated professions.

Depending on the chosen subject area or the focus of training, additional subject-specific fields of activity are added. Successful completion of the commercial academy replaces the entrepreneurship examination and is proof of professional training completed with a relevant final apprenticeship examination (e.g. office clerk, wholesale clerk, retail clerk, industrial clerk).
