At the same time as the International Motor Show in Frankfurt, Gustav Edelhoff mobilized almost 50 of his business colleagues to found the association. In 1986 the name was changed to “Bundesverband der Deutschen Entsorgungswirtschaft e. V. (BDE) ". The tasks of urban cleaning are equally balanced by the new fields of activity in the disposal and recycling sector. 1996 merged the BDE "Bundesverband hazardous waste management (BPS)". The hazardous waste division was given a special position in the BDE statutes. On January 1, 2000, the BDE merged with the “Verband private Abwasserentsorger e. V. (VpA) ". The area of water management will be significantly strengthened. Privately organized water supply and wastewater disposal companies are now involved in the new "Department of Water Management". After that, the business continued under the new name, which made another name change necessary in the course of the company truth and clarity .
