Bunyodkor Tashkent ( Russian "Бунёдкор" Ташкент Bunjodkor Tashkent ) is a football club in the Uzbek city of Tashkent . The club currently plays in the top division of Uzbekistan , the Uzbek Professional Football League .

Club history

Bunyodkor, which means something like "creator" or "creator" in German, was founded on July 6, 2005 under the name "Neftgazmontaj-Quruvchi". In the first season, the team managed direct promotion to the second division in the country. A year later, the club rose to the first division of Uzbekistan and finished second in its first season. This also led to participation in the AFC Champions League 2008 , in which the team failed in the semi-finals against Adelaide United from Australia . In August 2008 the association was renamed to its current name. The association was previously called PFC Kuruvchi (Uzbek Quruvchi PFK ).

The club caused a sensation when it signed former world footballer Rivaldo in August 2008 and held talks with other footballers such as Samuel Eto'o , Andrés Iniesta , Carles Puyol and Cesc Fàbregas . Shortly thereafter, the club signed Zico as a coach. However, he only stayed until January 2009. At the end of the 2008 season, the club had its first championship. The team was also able to win the national cup.

In June 2009, Bunyodkor signed Luiz Felipe Scolari as a coach. Scolari signed a contract for 18 months, but he only stayed as a coach until June 2010, his contract was terminated due to financial difficulties of the club. Mirjalol Qosimov succeeded Scolaris .

In December 2011, Thomas Brdarić was hired to professionalize the structure of the association . After this measure, the trophy was won in 2012 and the double in 2013. In June 2013 Brdarić left the club and returned to Germany.
