history
The village of Auernheim can be traced back to the medieval castle complex and is first mentioned in a document in 1258 (Urenhaim) when Count Hartman confirmed the farm in Aurnheim sold by Conrad von Höchstatt to the Neresheim monastery . The certificate was issued on March 15, 1258 in Dillingen . From 1258 to 1384 there is evidence of a noble family at the castle. From Postal remains are still close to the southern edge of Auernheim.
In the 19th century, based on Roman finds on the site of the former castle, the assumption was made that the medieval castle was built on the remains of a Roman building.
