The certificate was issued on March 15, 1258 in Dillingen . From 1258 to 1384 there is evidence of a noble family at the castle. From Postal remains are still close to the southern edge of Auernheim.

In the 19th century, based on Roman finds on the site of the former castle, the assumption was made that the medieval castle was built on the remains of a Roman building.
