history

The castle, mentioned in 1235 with Gelphradus von Dunstelkingen, was the ancestral seat of the Lords of Dunstelkingen. These were Dillingic , then Staufer and finally Oettingian ministerials . Your coat of arms is described as a shield divided across.

From 1581 to 1587, the castle became a Renaissance - castle with moat, ramparts expanded and four corner towers. After 1785 the castle fell into disrepair, was destroyed in 1796 and demolished in 1804. Remnants of trenches are still preserved from the former complex .

The other owners are the von Gromberg , around 1451 those of Westerstetten zu Katzenstein and in 1785 Thurn und Taxis .
