The moated castle Elvenich stood in Oberelvenich , a district of Zülpich in the Euskirchen district in North Rhine-Westphalia.

In Elvenich, today's Oberelvenich, there was another castle next to Bollheim Palace . Little is known about this Elvenich Castle. It was probably next to what was then the oil mill .

In 1166 the aristocrats Arnold and Rembert von Elvenich documented it. They will have named themselves after the noble seat of the same name . The noble family is mentioned in the 14th century. In 1399 the castle is mentioned as the possession of the squire Rabodo von Gymnich when he tried to offer the castle with outer bailey , moats and fortifications to the archbishop of Cologne for the Offenhaus . Rabodo was currently in a feud with a neighbor, Hilger von Langenau on Lüssem . His heirs sold the property to Rolmann von Geisbusch in 1419. After that, the castle is never mentioned again.
