The castle Lövenich was a castle in Lövenich , a district of Zülpich in North Rhine-Westphalia . It stood south of the church .
At the beginning of the 19th century the castle was only recognizable as a moat. The trenches were later filled in to build the road from Lövenich to Linzenich . The extent of the trenches on old maps suggests that the castle is small.
The castle was first mentioned as a fiefdom of the noblemen of Hengebach ( Heimbach (Eifel) ) in 1124. At that time there will not have been more than one manor house . The manor was first mentioned again in 1417. The castle seemed to have belonged to the rare species of the high nobility seats. The castle is still listed as a knight's seat in the 18th century. After the Hoen von Heimbach died out, the von Horst zu Boisdorf family inherited the property. In 1779 the entire building burned down. In 1872 the last remains of the castle were demolished. Nothing is known about the appearance of the castle.
