Burghard Franz Viktor von Oven (born July 29, 1861 in Ludom , Posen , † December 3, 1935 in Hirschhorn (Neckar) ) was a German officer , most recently a general of the infantry .

Life

Oven came from an aristocratic family from the Lower Rhine ; his grandfather Engelbert was given the hereditary Prussian nobility as a Prussian consistorial councilor in 1840 , which he did not redeem because the family was already aristocratic (nobility confirmation from 1791). Oven was the son of Julius von Oven (1829–1889), Prussian district administrator of the Dill district , and Sophie von Bodelschwingh (1833–1868).

In 1881 Oven joined the Prussian Army and in 1908 became a lieutenant colonel . In 1910 he became head of department in the War Ministry and, as a colonel, was from September 13, 1911 in command of the 5th Hanoverian Infantry Regiment No. 165 . After the outbreak of the First World War , Oven was given command of the 14th Infantry Brigade on August 8, 1914 . With this major association he took part in the fighting on the Western Front . On February 21, 1915, Oven returned to the War Ministry, where he was director of the Army Administration Department until 1919. In September 1919 Oven became commander of Reichswehr Brigade 15 and at the same time commander in military district III in Berlin.

Because of his unclear attitude during the Kapp Putsch , Oven received his departure in May 1920 and was promoted to General of the Infantry.

Oven married Jonkvrouw Nadine van der Hoeven (1863–1922) in Heidelberg on October 3, 1892 in his first marriage , and his second marriage was Helene NN.
