Liebenau castle ruins

The castle ruins Liebenau is the residue of a former hilltop castle on top of a ridge between Autmut - and Neckar valley 1300 m south-east of Neckartailfingen in the district of Esslingen in Baden-Württemberg .

Around 1300 the castle was in the possession of the von Liebenau family of ministers and was abandoned to decay a hundred years later after several changes of ownership. In 1270 a "milites de Liebenowe" was named, in 1368 a Berthold von Altingen and later a von Speth.

A rampart, moat and foundations are still preserved from the castle site on a castle hill with a diameter of about 30 meters, which is surrounded on three sides by a ditch .
