history

The Sulzburg has appeared in documents since the 14th century . The first known owners were the lords of Neidlingen . From around 1395 the Sulzburg was a Württemberg fiefdom of a branch of the Lords of Speth .

During the Thirty Years' War , the castle was occupied and destroyed by imperial troops, but then rebuilt.

After the Speth had died out, in 1650 Philipp Ludwig von Cannstatt received the Sulzburg as a fief. His daughters sold the facility in 1693 for 4,500 guilders to the Duchess Magdalena Sibylle , the widow of Duke Wilhelm Ludwig , who lived in Kirchheim . An old bailiff lived upstairs until around 1700 , then the long-dilapidated walls became uninhabitable.

In 1966/67 the ruin was secured and partially rebuilt.
