geography
The Burgstall is located in the Döblinger district of Nussdorf and borders on the district of Kahlenbergerdorf . In the north, the Schablergraben separates the Burgstall from the Kahlenbergerdorf and the Leopoldsberg , and to the southeast is the Nussberg . The north-eastern slope of the Burgstall falls steeply to the Danube . Geologically, the mountain lies in a north-eastern extension of the Eastern Alps and belongs to the flysch zone , which is composed of sandstone , marl and claystone .
history
The castle stable got its name from the Middle High German word buågšdaő , the name denoting a place where a castle was or is. Numerous finds prove an early historical fortification south of today's Leopoldsberg. Today the Burgstall is home to numerous vineyards in a prime location that stretch over the south-eastern slope. In the north, on the other hand, lies the Jungherrnsteig settlement, and the ridge is partly wooded.
