Byron Dyce

Byron Dyce ( Byron Alphonso Dyce; born March 27, 1948 ) is a retired Jamaican middle-distance runner . Because of his sprint strength , he was also used in the 4 x 400 meter relay .

In 1967 he was fifth over 1500 m at the Pan American Games in Winnipeg .

At the Olympic Games in 1968 he reached the semi-finals over 800 m and was eliminated over 1500 m in the preliminary run.

In 1970 he won the Central America and Caribbean Games over 1500 m. At the British Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh he reached the semi-finals over 800 meters and was fifth in the Jamaican 4 x 400 meter relay. In 1971 he managed a double victory over 800 m and 1500 m at the Central America and Caribbean Championships. At the Pan American Games in Cali , he won bronze over 800 m.

At the Olympic Games in 1972 he did not get past the first round over 800 m and 1500 m .

In 1975 he won gold over 800 m and bronze over 1500 m at the Central America and Caribbean Championships.

In 1969 he was US champion over 880 yards and in 1972 US indoor champion in the mile run . Starting for New York University , he became NCAA champions over 800 m and 880 yards, respectively , in 1968 and 1969 .
