The CONIFA European Football Championship is a football tournament for European members of the Confederation of Independent Football Associations (CONIFA). This consists largely of independent states that are not members of FIFA , dependent states , minorities and micronations as well as other areas enjoying a certain degree of autonomy . The name European football championship has been chosen as the FIFA the rights to the concept of European Football Championship holding. The CONIFA European Football Championship has been held every two years since 2015. In the intervening years, the CONIFA World Football Championship has been taking place since 2014 .
Award
The allocation of the EFM is agreed internally. In 2015, the rights to host the Ellan Vannin Association were awarded to Douglas . For organizational reasons, however, the greater part of the competition should have been held in London . When financial problems finally arose, the hosting rights were transferred to the Szeklerland , which planned to host it in Budapest , but eventually moved to Debrecen .
qualification
In the previous European football championships, the participants were determined internally through a vote. Only the host and in 2017 the reigning title holder Padania were guaranteed starting places.
Finals
After various cancellations, only six teams took part in the first event instead of twelve. These were drawn in two groups of three teams each. Each team played one game against both group opponents in the group stage. The last two placed then played a game for 5th place, while the two group winners played a semi-final against the runners-up of the other group, followed by a final and a game for 3rd place. 2017 was planned with eight teams, with another team moving up for cancellations. Each team in the two groups of four played a game against the group opponents, followed by the game for place 7 between the bottom of the group and the game for place 5 between the group penultimate. The group winners played again against the runners-up in the semi-finals, followed by the final and the third place match.
