The CONIFA World Football Cup 2018 ( English 2018 CONIFA World Football Cup ) was the third edition of the CONIFA World Football Cup , an international football tournament for states, minorities, stateless peoples and regions that are not members of FIFA . The tournament was hosted by the Confederation of Independent Football Associations ( CONIFA ) and for licensing reasons cannot be called the World Cup . The team from Baraawe was the host , but the competition took place in London .
The venue was announced on September 3, 2017. Since Baraawe acts as the host, but whose association headquarters are in England's capital London, it was decided to host the World Football Championship there as well. England's role as the motherland of football was also highlighted.
Venues
Eleven stadiums from amateur clubs in and around London were chosen as the venues. Seven are in Greater London , two in Berkshire , and one each in Surrey and Essex .

Participating teams
qualification
After numerous teams withdrew their participation in the qualification of the 2016 event and finally the majority of the teams were selected at the round table , a different qualification mode was implemented this time.
The number of participants was increased from 12 to 16. There were several ways to qualify. Host Baraawe got an automatic starting place. A qualification phase was set up for the continents of Africa, Asia and Europe, during which points could be collected through match practice. The best ten games since the last event were evaluated using a formula, with the best two teams each receiving a starting place. The formula is calculated as follows:
Enemy value
Result
CONIFA member: 3
Win: 3
other national selection: 2
Draw: 2
other team: 1
Defeat: 1
For each game, both factors were multiplied and the ten highest values added. The following final tables resulted for teams that were not yet qualified but played at least one game:
Since only two teams from Oceania and North America are members, it was decided without qualification for one of the two and allowed the other to move up if the former withdrew. In North America, Cascadia was chosen instead of Québec , while in Oceania Kiribati was preferred to Tuvalu . However, Kiribati withdrew from participation for financial reasons.
Two other teams received wild cards. Padania and Northern Cyprus qualified as finalists for the 2017 CONIFA European Football Championship. It was also possible to qualify as the winner of a tournament, as Tamil Eelam did. Another starting place was allocated to the reigning world football champions.
On May 4th it was announced that Felvidék is withdrawing from participation. The Carpathian Ukraine was newly appointed to the field as the best-placed, unqualified team in Europe.
Qualified teams
The following 16 teams were ultimately able to qualify:
1Ellan Vannin withdrew on June 5 after a complaint that Baraawe had used a supposedly ineligible player in the group game was also rejected on appeal. The quarter-final game, the semi-final game and the game for third place were rated 3-0 for Tibet, Matabeleland and Tuvalu respectively.
