Cabral , real name Adilson Tavares Varela (born October 22, 1988 in Praia , Cape Verde ), is a Swiss football player of Cape Verdean origin who was under contract with FC Basel for six years from 2007 to 2013 . With Basel he was Swiss champion five times . From March 2018 to June 2020 he played for FC Lausanne-Sport . He is right-footer and plays in defensive midfield .

Cabral came to FC Basel from the second-class Challenge League club FC Lausanne-Sport in the summer of 2007 . There the young player made his debut in the Axpo Super League on August 5, 2007 , when he came on for Carlitos in the 85th minute of their 5-1 defeat against BSC Young Boys from Bern . In the 2012/13 UEFA Europa League he advanced to the semi-finals with FC Basel, where he had to face the reigning UEFA Champions League winner Chelsea .
