Cabril is a municipality ( freguesia ) in the Portuguese district of Pampilhosa da Serra . 231 inhabitants live in it (as of June 30, 2011).
history
The founding dates of the place are unknown as a result of a collection of dwellings for local shepherds. The first official mention of Cabril comes from the reign of D.Afonso V. (1438–1481), from a trial file. There was negotiation about a supposed witch from the town of Praçais near Cabril.
The place became an independent municipality at the end of the 17th century and has since been part of the Pampilhosa da Serra district.
Culture and sights
The parish church Igreja Paroquial de Cabril (also Igreja de São Domingos ) from the 1950s is a listed building.
The former parish church collapsed in the 1950s. However, its church tower was retained and architecturally integrated into the new building of the Centro Social .
