The Town of Caledonia is located in south central Wisconsin, within a great arch of the Wisconsin River . Its confluence at Prairie du Chien in the Mississippi, which forms the border with Minnesota , is about 160 km to the west.

The middle area of ​​the town area is characterized by two chains of hills, the North Range , which runs from west to east, and the South Range , which extends from the southwest , which meet and end at Cascade Mountain, just west of the motorway junction. The Baraboo River flows north of these hills from west to east through the Caledonia area and flows into the Wisconsin River not far from Long Lake , a former oxbow lake . The center of the district, which lies between the North and South Range, is drained by the Rowley Creek , which meanders to the west and flows west of Caledonia into the Baraboo River, which is still striving northwards. South of the range of hills, Prentice Creek absorbs the draining water and directs it in Stoners Bay to the Wisconsin River that is dammed up to Lake Wisconsin .

There are other small lakes scattered around the town; the area north of I-90 / I-94 is protected as the Pine Island State Wildlife Area .

The two interstate highways I-90 and I-94 run together from Madison to the northwest past Caledonia; here the Interstate I-39 branches off to the north. Wisconsin State Route 33 also runs through the Caledonia area in an east-west direction .
