Candice Night , real name Candice Lauren Isralow (born May 8, 1971 in Hauppauge , Long Island , New York ) is a singer and the wife of Ritchie Blackmore , the former guitarist of Deep Purple . She sang the backing vocals in Blackmore's band Rainbow and is now the lead singer in his Renaissance- influenced folk-rock band, Blackmore's Night .

biography

Candice Night took singing lessons as a child. From 1989 to 1990 she did an internship at a local radio station, during which time she met Ritchie Blackmore at a soccer game. In 1993 she began her singing career as a background singer in the Battle Rages On - tour of Deep Purple. A little later she was asked to write some songs for the last Rainbow CD Stranger In Us All . With her songs "Ariel", "Wolf To The Moon" and "Black Masquerade" she won international recognition as a songwriter . She ended her modeling career and worked with Ritchie Blackmore, with whom she formed the band Blackmore's Night in 1997. She took over the writing and the part of the singer. In 2001 she recorded four songs with the Argentine metal project Beto Vazquez Infinity together with guest stars Tarja Turunen (Ex- Nightwish ) and Sabine Edelsbacher ( Edenbridge ) (“Through times Part 2”, “Golden hair”, “Through Times Part 3 "And" Promises under the rain "). In 2003 she was part of the “Aina” ensemble at the rock opera Days of Rising Doom .

On the Helloween album Keeper of the Seven Keys - The Legacy (2005), Candice Night sings the title Light the Universe in a duet with Andi Deris and can also be seen in the video.

In 2011 she released a solo album titled Reflections . She also plays medieval instruments such as the shawm , the Rauschpfeife and the Irish tin whistle .

Private

Night is heavily involved in animal welfare. In 2008 she and Blackmore married, and in 2010 they had a daughter. The two dedicated the album Autumn Sky to her , which was released in September 2010. In particular, they wrote the song Strawberry Girl for their daughter. In 2012 they had their second child, a boy.
