The Canner is an almost 30 kilometers long right tributary of the Moselle in the Moselle department .
geography
course
The Canner rises with two spring branches in the area of the place Vry . After the union of the two source streams, the Canner flows north, its main flow direction, which it essentially maintains until its mouth. She pulls right past Vigy , where she strengthens on the right side of the Merles . At St. Hubert it is fed to the right by the Reibach and shortly afterwards the Villers and the Grand St. Martin flow to it. In Aboncourt which opens Pâquis in the Canner and Budange the Katzenbach . It now flows through a meadow landscape to Hombourg -Budange . There it is strengthened by the Altbach . At Kédange-sur-Canner it takes on the Kohlbach and a little later the Strumbach . From there it is accompanied on its way by the D2 . North of Elzing it receives a flow from the Reimersbach and at Moulin de Buding it reaches the Kedingerbach on its left side . It now passes Buding and then Molin Haut , where the Bisbach lets it grow. The Breistroff runs towards it downstream from Hastroff . It crosses Elzange and finally flows north of Koenigsmacker into the Moselle .

Hydrology
At the confluence of the Canner in the Moselle the mean flow rate (MQ) is 0.98 m³ / s; the catchment area here covers 110.3 km².
At the Koenigsmacker gauge, the average annual runoff from the Canner was calculated over a period of 40 years (1971–2010) . The catchment area at this point corresponds to about 110 km², almost 100% of the entire catchment area of the river.
The highest water levels are measured in the winter months of January and February. The flow rate reached its peak in February at 1.92 m³ / s. From March onwards, the discharge fell noticeably month after month and reached its lowest level in August and September at 0.33 m³ / s, after which it rose again from month to month, first slightly and then sharply in December
The monthly mean discharge (MQ) of the Canner in m³ / s, measured at the Koenigsmacker hydrological station.
