The Cap Fréhel (partly also Cap Fréhal , Breton Kab Frehel ) is a headland on the Côte d'Émeraude in north-eastern Brittany and forms the northernmost point of the rocky promontory that extends into the Gulf between the cities of Saint-Malo and Saint-Brieuc from Saint-Malo protrudes. It is about 8.5 km from the homonymous municipality of Fréhel , but is in the municipality of Plévenon .

The cliffs consist of reddish sandstone , black slate and the pink granite famous for the Côte de Granit Rose . They drop off steeply towards the water and are up to 70 m high. The meadows that cover the cliff roof are most attractive in spring and summer when wild hyacinths , daffodils , multi-flowered white root and carnations bloom. Gorse and Erika grow behind the cliffs .

Cap Fréhel is a bird sanctuary that is home to a large number of breeding birds. The shags and herring gulls are the most numerous , as well as guillemots , oystercatchers , herring , coat and kittiwakes , puffins , fulmars and common ravens . A typical sight are the seagulls, as they are carried in hovering flight by the constantly blowing wind before they drop cawing into the water from a great height.

There are two lighthouses on the cape . One dates from the 17th century and was built by the builder Vauban . The other is from 1950, is almost 33 m high and can be climbed at certain times, which ensures a good view of the Norman peninsula when the weather is clear .

Another headland with Fort la Latte is located 4 km to the southeast .
