Cape Canaveral AFS Launch Complex 2 (LC-2) is a disused launch pad at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station on Merritt Island , Cape Canaveral in Florida , USA . It was used for 15 launches between 1954 and 1960 to develop and test the Snark cruise missile.

history

Originally the launch pad was built together with the LC-1 , LC-3 and LC-4 for the Snark cruise missile program. The first launch took place on February 18, 1954. The launch complex was used for cruise missiles until April 6, 1960.

It was later used as a helipad during the Mercury program . The launch site was last used for radar balloons in the 1980s.
