Cape Canaveral AFS Launch Complex 26 (LC-26) is a decommissioned launch complex of the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station on Merritt Island , Cape Canaveral in Florida , USA and consists of the two launch ramps LC-26A and LC-26B.
The end of the 1950s to the early 1960s, the two launch pads for testing and development flights of were Redstone and - Jupiter - medium-range missiles used.
On February 1, 1958, the first US American satellite Explorer 1 was launched from LC-26A .
LC-26 was declared a National Historic Landmark on April 16, 1984 as part of the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station and is now part of the Air Force Space & Missile Museum . The blockhouse can be viewed from the Kennedy Space Center's visitor center on the Cape Canaveral: Then & Now Tour.
