Capital Bra je m'appelle , also JE M'APPELLE or RAPAPAM , is a song by the German rapper Capital Bra from 2019. The third single from his sixth studio album CB6 was written by the artist himself and produced by Goldfinger030 .

Background and title

In Capital Bra according m'appelle is the first piece of music that Capital Bra after separation from its previous label ersguterjunge , which it due to personal differences with the owner Bushido took place, brought out. The two previous CB6 releases Benzema and Prinzessa were still released by the aforementioned record company.

The song was released digitally on all official commercial platforms both as part of CB6 and as the single under the name Capital Bra je m'appelle . This notation is also indicated on the tracklist of the physical edition of the album. In the music video for the song, however, CAPITAL BRA - RAPAPAM can be read on the title display ; the video itself was published under the name Capital Bra - JE M'APPELLE (prod. by Goldfinger) on the musician's YouTube channel. Also on one of the two variants of the cover artwork of the single, the words JE M'APPELLE are clearly highlighted by their size above the name of the artist (on the other, these positions have been reversed).

Music and lyrics

Capital Bra je m'appelle belongs to the genre of Afrotrap . It has the style corresponding to a significant Dancehall - rhythm on, however, is with the aesthetics of Trapmusik provided; underneath with a lot of reverb alienated synthesizers mixed in the background and the voice effect autotune . Capital Bra sings the entire text without rapping the stanzas as is usual for him. In comparison to stylistically similar titles, his performance is noticeably gentle and often uses phonetic singing , especially during the refrain .

The song is about two people who dance together and fall in love . The interpreter assumes the role of the lover in his lecture, while the listener embodies his partner. In the first stanza he sings about the romantic feelings that his beloved has for him, in the second those that he himself has for her. Individual lines in the two verses are almost or completely identical, but are sometimes depicted from a different perspective. With lines like "You fell in love, who would have thought?" (In the second stanza "I fell in love, who would have thought that?") it is suggested that both participants did not expect these emotions or even completely excluded them.

Music video

The music video for Capital Bra je m'appelle , created under the direction of Sergen Isici , stands out due to its extremely warm color tone , which is created by the constant illumination with red light . Individual objects, including a cigarette or a few paintings , are highlighted by special effects ; In other scenes, objects (e.g. a steering wheel or stars ) were subsequently drawn. You can see Capital Bra, wearing sunglasses and a sweater and holding a drinking glass in his hand , and a woman wrapped only in underwear . Both sit on a bed and dance, sometimes intimately . In another scene the musician is standing in a room with several swinging lamps hanging from the ceiling . He is dressed differently here; so he wears a different sweater and a hood , but no sunglasses.

criticism

Capital Bra je m'appelle polarized strongly. In particular the onomatopoeic refrain of the song was on the one hand positively perceived as playful and compared with the Kraftwerk title Boing Boom Tschak , on the other hand it was seen as lacking in ideas and with few variations.

success
