CB6 ( C apital B ra 6th album) is the sixth studio album by German rapper Capital Bra . It was released on April 12, 2019.

background

CB6 is Capital Bra's first album after its separation from Bushido's record label ersguterjunge and was released through Urban . The original plan was to publish the work on April 26, 2019, both digitally and physically. However, when it unexpectedly appeared on the Internet as a leak prematurely, it was decided to bring the digital edition forward to April 12th. The CD for the album kept its original release date.

As guest musicians appear KC Rebell , Summer Cem , Nimo , Samra and Nash on. The album was mainly produced by Djorkaeff , Beatzarre and Lucry , but The Cratez and Goldfinger also each produced a song of the work. All the titles were written by Capital Bra himself, who was mostly supported by the respective producers and any feature guests.

Four singles were extracted from CB6 : Benzema , Prinzessa , Capital Bra je m'appelle and Wir ticken . In addition, a music video was shot for the title Rolex . Each of these five songs reached the top ten in Germany , Austria and Switzerland and topped the charts in at least one of the countries. All 13 other tracks on the album were also in different positions in the German charts. The song Bye Bye was particularly successful and took 7th, 6th and 12th place in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

In addition to its standard edition, the album is also available as a box set . In addition to the main work, this includes the EP Travolta by the rapper friend Samra , a t-shirt , a bum bag and three stickers .

Music and lyrics

The vast majority of the tracks on CB6 can be attributed to the hybrid genre of Afrotrap . The beats accordingly have strong dancehall elements and are characterized by the hi-hats and snares of the trap genre . It is noticeable that Capital Bra sings a large part of the songs in full without rapping on them. His voice is alienated with the autotune effect . Only a few tracks can be assigned to classic hip-hop .

In terms of content, the album has three central themes that run through the entire track list: success or dealing with the same, crime and relationships with women. By using his alter ego Joker Bra on the song Click Click, there are also clear borrowings from the horrorcore genre on this one .

Cover design

The cover for CB6 is in black and white and shows a close-up of the grinning head of Capital Bra against a dark background . He is wearing a cap and is blowing smoke from his mouth . The left half of his face is well lit, while the right half is covered in shadow . The title of the album is written in large but narrow white letters from his chin to his neck ; underneath, the name of the artist in the same color is much smaller. At the very top of the motif are the words "Bra music presented" in a similar small size.

criticism

CB6 polarized very much and received both high praise and strong criticism. It was particularly criticized that the stylistics of some songs are often repeated, as well as the fact that Capital Bras rarely used aggressive flow . The multiple, simple repetition of individual wording without a deeper meaning was particularly criticized. Positive reviews highlight the rapper's attitude, which makes fun of everything and everyone, and not individual people or groups of people, and praise the catchiness of the pieces of music. The image of women was also perceived very differently. Some critics found this to be objectifying, while others noted that the personalities of the women whom the interpreter sings about are taken seriously and do not correspond to the common stereotype of rap music.

CB6 was a great commercial success in German-speaking countries. The album managed to reach the top of the charts in Germany and Austria and to climb to number 2 in Switzerland .
