Carey May-Edge

Carey May-Edge (born May ; born July 19, 1959 in Dublin ) is an Irish long-distance runner who had her greatest successes in the marathon .

Life

In 1980 she won the Premiere de Dublin Marathon in the national record time of 2:42:11 h. The following year she became the first Irish marathon champion, and in 1982 she improved this mark to 2:38:32 in the San Francisco Marathon, finishing second, and finishing 18th in the European Athletics Championships in Athens .

In 1983 and 1985 she won the Osaka Women's Marathon , setting two more records (2:29:23) and at the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki in 1983 she finished 13th, and the following year she came in at the Olympic Games Los Angeles finished in 28th place and finished sixth in the New York City Marathon .

In 1985 she finished fifth in the Pittsburgh Marathon and seventh in the Tokyo International Women's Marathon .

On June 1, 1983, she set an Irish record in the 10,000 meter run in Houston with 33: 04.23 minutes .

Carey May-Edge is a graduate of Brigham Young University (BYU). She is married to the Canadian marathon runner Dave Edge and has since acquired her husband's citizenship. She is currently a trainer at the Tesoro High School in Las Flores ( Orange County, California ).
