biography

From 1975 to 1976 he played with Jim Kerr , Charlie Burchill and others in the beginners band Biba-Rom! in Glasgow. In 1977 he founded the punk band Johnny And The Self Abusers with Jim Kerr, Charlie Burchill and John Milarky . After half a year this band broke up, but dared a new beginning in 1978 under the name Simple Minds . After various musicians had come and gone, at the end of 1978 the formation came together with Brian McGee, Charlie Burchill, Jim Kerr, Derek Forbes and Michael MacNeil , and they also made their first records.

McGee starred on the albums Life In A Day (1979), Real To Real Cacophony (1979), Empires And Dance (1980), Sons And Fascination (1981) and Sister Feelings Call (1981) and decided to get tired of the unstoppable touring to leave the band.

Until 1985 he played in the local Scottish band Endgames , which recorded the two albums Building Beauty and Natural . Together with his former Simple Minds band member Derek Forbes he then went to the synth-pop band Propaganda and stayed until 1995. He played on the albums Wishful Thinking (1985) and 1234 (1990), as well as Robin Zander's Robin Zander ( 1993).
