John Giblin
John Giblin (born February 26, 1952 ) is a British bass player. He plays fretless bass, acoustic bass, electric bass and double bass.
Musical career
In 1979, John Giblin represented bassist Percy Jones in the band Brand X , who had moved from London to New York and could not be present at all recordings. Contributions to the album Product were u. a. the two quieter songs Rhesus Perplexus and April as well as the collaboration with Jones on bass in Wal to Wal . Phil Collins and John Giblin were close friends and went through a divorce from their wives together in 1980.
From 1985 to 1988 Giblin was a member of the band Simple Minds and played on the Amnesty International supporting tour for the Simple Minds album Once Upon a Time .
His style was compared to the way of playing Jaco Pastorius of Weather Report in the 1980s . Among other things, he played a Gibson SG
