Brian McGee (Bishop)

Brian McGee (born October 8, 1965 in Greenock , Scotland ) is a Scottish clergyman and Roman Catholic Bishop of Argyll and the Isles .

Life

Brian McGee attended the boys' seminars in Lngabank and Aberdeen . He then studied at St. Patrick's College in Thurles . He was ordained priest on June 29, 1989 for the diocese of Paisley .

After various pastoral activities, he was spiritual at Scotus College in Bearsden from 2006 to 2008 . He was then director of the Adult Integration Program and Episcopal Vicar for Marriage and Family. In 2014 he was appointed Vicar General of the Diocese of Paisley.

Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Argyll and the Isles on December 28, 2015. He was ordained episcopal by the Archbishop of Saint Andrews and Edinburgh , Leo Cushley , on February 18 of the following year at St Columba's Cathedral in Oban . Co- consecrators were his predecessor Joseph Anthony Toal , Bishop of Motherwell , and the Bishop of Paisley, John Keenan .
