John Keenan (born December 19, 1964 in Glasgow ) is a Scottish clergyman and Roman Catholic Bishop of Paisley .

Life

John Keenan first studied at the University of Glasgow , where he obtained a Bachelor of Laws in 1988 . He then studied at the Pontifical Scots College in Rome and obtained a licentiate in philosophy and a baccalaureate in theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University . On July 9, 1995, he received the sacrament of ordination for the Archdiocese of Glasgow .

After serving in pastoral care, Keenan became a college chaplain at the University of Glasgow in 2000. Since 2013 he has been pastor in Anderston and diocesan director for vocations ministry .

Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Paisley on February 8, 2014 . He was ordained episcopal on March 19 of the same year by the Archbishop of Glasgow, Philip Tartaglia . Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Saint Andrews and Edinburgh , Leo Cushley , and the Old Bishop of Paisley, John Aloysius Mone .
