Carl Frederik Bistrup Simony (born March 12, 1909 in Maniitsoq ; † December 4, 1983 ) was a Danish lawyer , civil servant and compatriot of Greenland .

Life

Carl Frederik Bistrup Simony graduated with a law degree in 1935 . He then worked as a secretary at Børneværn in Copenhagen , a state institution similar to a youth welfare office . In 1938 he moved to the Landbrugsministeriet and in the same year continued to the State Children's Welfare Council , where he stayed until 1945. In 1939 he was also promoted to secretary in the Greenland administration and in 1943 to an agent. In 1945 he was appointed Landsfoged of South Greenland and, because the position was vacant, also Landsfoged North Greenland , as Eske Brun had previously administered both colonies together. In 1947 he handed over the northern governorate to Niels Otto Christensen and remained in office in southern Greenland until 1950. He then remained active in the field, albeit no longer at the highest level. In 1952 he became police chief. From 1959 to 1964 he was a judge at Grønlands Landsret . From 1945 to 1950 he was a member of the Greenland public education administration. In 1949 he was on the Greenland Commission . In 1955 he became a member of the Council of the Arctic Institute . From 1956 to 1963 he was chairman of the museum committee of the regional council . In the same year he became a member of the publishing committee. From 1962 to 1964 he was chairman of the Greenland Accident Insurance Council. Then he was a member of the Børneværn Committee of Egebjerg Sogns until 1967 . From 1964 to 1965 he was also secretary for the administration of the Anneberg Collection , a private glass museum. In 1966 he was a member of the administration of the Greenland State Museum , in 1970 a member of the Association of Greenlandic Children and from 1971 to 1973 a member of Det Grønlandske Selskab . From 1968 to 1973 he was active in the Disabled Motor Committee and from 1970 to 1971 at the Arctic Institute and from 1971 at the law gazette. He was a bearer of the Knight's Cross 1st Class of the Dannebrog Order .

Carl Frederik Bistrup Simony was the son of the inspector Christian Simony (1881–1961) and his wife Carla Østerberg Bistrup (1883–1979). His great-grandfather was the politician Carl Frederik Simony (1806–1872) and his grandfather the colonial administrator Laurits Hans Christian Bistrup (1850–1914). His first marriage was Mona Muus in 1935 (1913–?). The marriage ended in divorce in 1949. Then he married Birthe Høy (1917–?) Just a month later.
