Laurits Hans Christian Bistrup

Laurits Hans Christian Bistrup (born March 7, 1850 in Maniitsoq , † August 15, 1914 in Copenhagen ) was a Danish merchant and inspector of Greenland .

Life

Laurits Hans Christian Bistrup was the son of the colonial administrator Henning Bistrup (1798–1877) and his second wife Laura Jakobine Kirstine Hammer (1811–1878). His father was colonial administrator in Maniitsoq when he was born. Laurits Hans Christian Bistrup married Anna Vilhelmine Østerberg (1848–?), Daughter of the gold maker August Østerberg, on March 7, 1878 in Copenhagen. Through his daughter Carla Østerberg Bistrup (1883–1979) he was the father-in-law of Christian Simony (1881–1961) and the grandfather of Carl Frederik Bistrup Simony (1909–1983).

Laurits Hans Christian Bistrup enjoyed a trade and machinist training. After two years of internship in the accounting office, he became a volunteer in Nuuk in 1878 . In 1882 he became a commercial assistant in Maniitsoq. In 1885 he became an interim colonial administrator in Nuuk and three years later he was permanently employed. From 1888 to 1889 he represented Carl Julius Peter Ryberg as inspector of South Greenland . After a year of vacation, he was reassigned to Maniitsoq in 1890 as colonial administrator. From 1901 to 1902 he was again on leave. From 1906 to 1908 he represented Inspector Ole Bendixen twice at short intervals and after another year of vacation he retired in 1912. He lived in Gentofte and died two years later in Copenhagen at the age of 64.
