Niels Rosing Bull

Niels Rosing Bull (born September 9, 1760 in Kristiansund , † December 9, 1841 in Aarhus , Denmark ) was a Norwegian official and inspector of Greenland .

Life

Niels Rosing Bull attended a military academy and was 1,782 secondary Lieutenant and in 1787 first lieutenant . In 1788 he took part in the cranberry war against Sweden , where he fell from his horse and injured his hip. This injury caused that Bull had to end his military career as a captain the following year . In 1797, Claus Bendeke moved from South Greenland to North Greenland as an inspector and Niels Rosing Bull was appointed as his successor. He was considered extremely capable and popular. He valued everyone and looked after the well-being of the Greenlanders and when he returned to Europe in 1802 he gave his successor Marcus Nissen Myhlenphort a detailed description of the entire inspectorate. In 1804 he became Slagelse customs and consumption inspector . In 1812 he moved to Aarhus, where he was supported by his son from 1831. In 1811 he was also Judicial Council in 1828 and Privy Councilor , when he in 1836 Knight of the Order of the Dannebrog was beaten before he died in 1841 81 years old.

family

Niels Rosing Bull was the son of the chaplain , priest and provost Jens Lemvig Bull (1727–1799) and Anna Johanna Grøn (1731–1796). In 1797 he married the Norwegian Else Sophia Meldahl (1769–1813) in Sisimiut , who was in turn daughter of Prime Lieutenant Johan Michael Meldahl (1734–1798) and Else Margrethe Hammond (1733–1801). The couple had twins in 1803, but one of them was stillborn. The surviving son was named Johan Michael Meldahl Bull (1803–1874) after his grandfather and also became a civil servant.
