Edvard Emil Meyer

Edvard Emil Meyer (born October 11, 1803 , † September 21, 1879 in Copenhagen ) was a Danish merchant and inspector of Greenland .

Life

Edvard Emil Meyer's origin is unknown. In 1827 he was appointed assistant in Sisimiut . From 1829 to 1830 he was interim colonial administrator in Nuuk . He then worked as an assistant in Maniitsoq for a year . During a year-long stay in Denmark, he married Adamine Spliid (1814–1903) in Copenhagen in 1832. From 1832 to 1833 he was again colonial administrator in Nuuk and then for four years in Sisimiut. After spending two years in Denmark, he was appointed colonial administrator in Paamiut in 1839 , but in the same year he still represented Carl Peter Holbøll as inspector of South Greenlandso that he could not accept the office until 1840. From 1845 to 1846 he was again in Denmark. From 1850 to 1851 he represented Holbøll a second time. In 1852 he was back in Denmark and retired immediately afterwards. He died in Copenhagen at the age of 75.
