Frederik Lassen

Frederik Lassen (born March 25, 1798 in Stoense , † January 1872 in Ordrup ) was a Danish merchant and inspector of Greenland .

Life

Frederik Lassen was the son of the manager Nicolai Lassen and his wife Dorthea Kaare. His grandfather Nicolai Lassen, born in 1724, worked as a missionary in Ilulissat for a year in the middle of the 18th century . On August 17, 1823 he married in Uummannaq Sophia Frederikke Hount (1806–1833), daughter of the colonial administrator Christian Friedrich Hount (1767–1808) and Cathrine Louise Tetzler. Cortzen. The son Hans Nicolai Christian Lassen (1824–1898), who later also worked in the trade, left the marriage. After the early death of his wife, Frederik Lassen married Inger Hedevig Elisabeth Tryde (1801–1864), daughter of lottery collector Anders Holst Tryde and his wife Cathrine Marie Elisabeth Pfeiffer, in 1834. From this marriage came the son Frederik Tryde Lassen (1838–1920), who later became an interim inspector like his father.

Frederik Lassen was appointed assistant in Aasiaat in 1821 . In 1822 he was transferred to Qeqertarsuaq , in 1823 to Niaqornat and in 1825 again to Qeqertarsuaq, where he was interim colonial administrator in 1825. In 1827 he became colonial administrator in Ilimanaq , in 1829 in Nuuk , and in 1830 in Sisimiut . From 1832 to 1833 he represented Carl Peter Holbøll as inspector of South Greenland . After spending a year in Denmark, he was appointed colonial administrator in Qaqortoq in 1834 . With a further stay in Denmark from 1837 to 1838 he held the office until 1841. From 1847 to 1850 he was a councilor . From 1851 to 1856 he was colonial administrator in Qeqertarsuatsiaat before he retired. He died in Denmark in 1872 at the age of 73.
