Regnar Stephensen

Regnar Stephensen (born January 11, 1866 in Vejle , † June 9, 1902 in Maniitsoq ) was a Danish inspector of Greenland .

Regnar Stephensen was appointed in 1899 to succeed his father-in-law Edgar Christian Fencker as inspector for South Greenland . He held the office until his death in 1902 at the age of only 36 and was succeeded by Oscar Peter Cornelius Kock .

He came from a famous and influential Icelandic- Danish family. His parents were Westy Ludvig Christian Stephensen (1835-1893) and Christiane Amalie Møhl (1840-1924). Regnar's uncle Hannes Peter Stephensen was also a South Greenland inspector from 1870 to 1882. His brother Westy Oddgeir Hilmar Stephensen (1868–1950) was director of the Danish National Bank . His nephews Hakon Stephensen (1900–1986) and Magnus Stephensen (1903–1984) were architects. He himself was married to Cathrine Emilie Elisabeth Fencker, the daughter of his predecessor. From the short marriage there was only one daughter Astrid Signe Christiane Stephensen, born on September 20, 1898 in Nuuk .
