Hans Peter Christian Møller (born November 2, 1810 in Helsingør , † October 18, 1845 in Rome ) was a Danish malacologist and inspector of Greenland .

Life

From 1822 to 1827 Møller was a student at Sorø Akademi , where he studied theology until 1837 . Later he was a lieutenant . Then he traveled to Greenland for the first time in 1838 and 1839 for scientific reasons. In 1840 he researched the remains of the Grænlendingar in the Ameralik fjord . In 1842 he wrote the work Index Molluscorum Greenlandiae , which lists all the molluscs in Greenland. In 1843 he was appointed inspector for North Greenland and died in Rome in 1845 at the age of only 34. Here he is buried on the Cimitero Acattolico , where the following is engraved on his tombstone:

Hans Peter Christian was the son of the surgeon Joachim Otto Møller (1781–1873) and Ane Elisabeth Roholdt (1786–1856). He was survived by his father and mother and died unmarried. His sisters Sophie Agnes (1820–1862) and Margrethe Elisabeth (1812–1902) were married to Christian Søren Marcus Olrik (1815–1870), who had been an inspector for North Greenland from 1846 to 1866.
