Carl Frederik Harries

Carl Frederik Harries (born December 23, 1872 on Hanstedgård , Hansted Sogn , Horsens Municipality ; † 1938 ) was a Danish inspector of Greenland .

Harries made his main examination 4th grade in Horsens in 1889 . In the same year he started as a volunteer at Den Kongelige Grønlandske Handel in Copenhagen . In 1893 he moved to Aasiaat . He returned there in 1895 after a year in Qeqertarsuaq . In 1897 he was again appointed administrator there. After that he was assistant in Kangersuatsiaq from 1898 , then from 1903 in Uummannaq and in 1905 administrator in Qasigiannguit . From there he moved to Aasiaat in 1907, but returned a year later. In 1910 he was appointed administrator in Upernavik , then in 1911 he was appointed colonial administrator. After all, from 1915 to 1923 he was inspector of South Greenland . He was also a member of the commission from 1920 to 1921. From 1925 to 1935 he was chairman of the Greenland Society .

Carl Frederik Harries was the son of the landlord Nikolai August Theodor Harries and his wife Ane Marie Qvitzau. Heinrich Harries was his great-uncle. On April 12, 1903, he married the 24-year-old Ellen Gunhilda Therese Struck in Bregninge .
